The Sportsman is Named Restaurant of the Year Once Again

For the second time, the Michelin-starred pub, run by self taught chef Stephen Harris, has been named the UK’s best restaurant in the 2017 Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards, held at The Hurlington Club, in London.

The annual awards, which are now in their 10th year, celebrate the top 100 restaurants in the UK, as voted for by around 180 top chefs, restaurateurs, food critics and other industry professionals.

Other big winners on the night included Jason Atherton, who was crowned Restaurateur of the Year, Claude Bosi, who scooped the Chefs’ Chef of the Year award and Shaun Hill, chef-patron at The Walnut Tree in Abergavenny, which was voted the best restaurant in Wales, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award.
