Bar + Block Steakhouse Win Big at Menu Innovation and Development Awards

Whitbread's Bar + Block steakhouse are now officially the proud owners of the 'New Restaurant Concept' award, scooping the title at this year’s Menu Innovation and Development Awards (MIDAs).

The awards,  which held its eigth ceremony at London’s Cumberland hotel, celebrates the creative talents of menu development managers and group executive chefs, within the multi-unit and chain restaurant sectors.  The winners are decided by a team of anonymous diners and judges, who then visit the nominees to determine the winners.

Bar + Block’s success is indicative of the public’s desire to eat high quality steak at high street prices. Aside from their award win, the eatery continues to go from strength to strength as they now own three outlets across the country, in Birmingham, London King’s Cross and Whiteley.

As a result of winning the award, Bar + Block will now receive a place on the Menu Innovation Network’s insight tour of Chicago, in May. The tour will offer the restaurant a wealth of opportunities, including the chance to gain entry to the world’s largest foodservice event – the NRA show, as well as a behind-the-scenes tour of leading Chicago restaurants.

Managing Director of Whitbread Restaurants, Phil Birbeck, has expressed his joy at taking home the award: “We are delighted to have received the New Restaurant Concept award. Following three successful openings in the last 12 months, this award recognizes the hard work and passion behind the Bar + Block brand’’.
